The founder of the globally iconic brand, Playboy, has died at 91 at the Playboy mansion yesterday. Playboy has said that Hugh died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. Playboy magazine’s catapulted Hugh into the high life, and led to the iconic Playboy mansion that was later known for its legendary parties Hefner had founded Playboy in 1953 with Marilyn Monroe taking the front cover.
Hugh owns the crypt on the left of Marilyn Monroe’s – next to the women who helped him launch Playboy – after he paid £75,000 back in 1992 as he said: “Spending an eternity next to Marilyn is too sweet to pass up." Marilyn has been there since her in death 1962.
Hefner sold the Playboy mansion in August 2016 to Daren Metropoulos for $100million with one condition, that Hugh could live in the mansion without the new owners meddling until he dies.
